A captivating tale about a little-known prince: 5 stars!

By Siva Subramanian on Amazon.in: At school, I spent countless hours immersed in Amar Chitra Katha comics, captivated by Malavika’s beauty or Abimanyu’s bravery or Tulsidas’ devotion. Usha Narayanan’s PRADYUMNA brought back those happy, magical days of imagination and story-telling!

A fast-paced, beautifully scripted, richly painted word-picture, PRADYUMNA grips from the very beginning – and doesn’t let go until the end. It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of mythology or not… this is a human tale replete with joy and suffering, great ambition and base sins, devastation and victory.

All through a brilliant narrative that traces the lives of Lord Krishna’s sons through their ups and downs, the reader feels powerful under-currents that rush the characters relentlessly along their pre-ordained path, and hurtle them towards their true destiny.

As a student of writing, I admired Usha’s mastery of the ‘cliff-hanger’ chapter ending. Throughout the book, I wasn’t able to stop once at the end of a section, being practically forced to plunge eagerly ahead to see what happens next. You’ll feel like a kid in a candy store, always wanting more!

If you love mythology, you’re in for a treat with this delightful story. If you’re an author-in-training (and which writer isn’t?), there’s a lot to study, model and learn from, too. Be it on a technical or emotional level, when you’re done reading this book, two things will happen:

You’ll feel satisfied at having enjoyed a good read – and you’ll look forward to her next book!
